Updates, updates, updates!

Hello friends,

We've been neglecting our blog for a little while now.  There is much to catch up on.

First off, happy new year!  Last time we updated our blog it was 2010, and even though it's horrendously late, we wanted to wish you a happy year nonetheless.

Time to get down to business:

Item Number One: SHOWS

We have a few new shows lined up.  First off, we're playing tomorrow night (1/29/11) at the What's Up Pre-Awards Show.  Here's the down low: Friday, January 29th @ 8:30 PM.  It will be held at WWU's Viking Union Multi-Purpose room.  We're playing with a wide assortment of bands, so there will be something for everyone.  Assuming most of you (like us) run your lives through Facebook, you can RSVP to this event here: What's Up Pre-Awards Show.

After that we have quite a few shows in the following month:

Feb 4th: We're playing down in Tacoma that weekend.  At noon we'll be playing at the UPS (University of Puget Sound, not the shipping company) Student Union Building.  Later that night (around 10:00) we'll play a show at the new Cobra Lounge down in the area.

Feb 5th: The second day of our dash to Tacoma.  We're doing an in-studio performance early in the day and then playing at UPS's Casino Night that evening.  Then, doggedly, we'll head back up north that night.

Feb 24th: This show is at Boundary Bay.  Beer, good food, and music?  You wouldn't want to pass that up.

Lastly, we are going to be playing at HigFom this year.  We're really excited for it, as it will be our biggest and most prestigious show we'll have played up to that point.

Sorry for the vagueness in detail of the last two shows on there.  We'll have more information for you as the time gets closer.

Item Number Two: Talia Suckow

We want to honor our good friend and our most favorite violinist, Talia Suckow, who decided a little over a month ago that she wouldn't be able to play with us anymore.  We were entirely blessed (as I'm sure all of you were) during the time she was playing with us.  From all of us, we just wanted to give her a big

THANK YOU!

We truly appreciated all that you added to our music and for being such a wonderful person.

Item Number Three: SONG MEANINGS

Finally, we have been playing a few new songs recently and want to share with you what they're about:

Ring the Bells
This is a song written for all of us who've been hurt by people we trusted.  It's for those of us who've gone through times where we feel empty after someone we love walks out of our life.  This song is intended to remind you that there is hope and love beyond what we can receive from those in our lives.

Shift Colors
First off, we want to thank whoever helped us name this song at our CD release show back in November.  The term "Shift Colors" is a sailing term used to signify a ship leaving port.  We all go through times where the only thing we want is to get away and escape, but usually we end up realizing that the one place we love is what we thought we wanted to escape, home.  It's about understanding that sometimes exploring isn't as good as being true to yourself.

Untitled
This is our newest song.  We'll be playing it for the first time tomorrow at the What's Up Pre-Awards Show.  This is a song about something we all don't want to do: take time to heal.  A lot of us cover up our pain by piling more and more on top of it, trying to suffocate it until it dies.  The reality is that it never dies if that's your method of taking care of it.  You have to face your pain and know that, though it's the hard route, the only way you can truly get over it is to take the time to heal and to look for help in getting through it.

Item Number Four: MERCH

We now have a new batch of CDs on the way as well as buttons.  So if you want a button for your bag, shirt, boy scout sash, hipsterish hat, etc., you can soon have one...or two...or all of them.  Also, we will soon have stickers (bumper stickers and regular ones), posters, and shirts.  (Our next blog will explain the fun part about our shirts)

Well, I believe that novel doesn't just sum things up, but explains everything in full detail.  Sparknotes will probably have an easier way for you to get through this entire blog.  But for those of you who made it all the way to the end, we love you.

Until next time...
